Building Information
The great gate (damen 大門) leading into the complex was likely added when the shrine was rebuilt in the second year of the Qianlong period (1737). A single bay structure with a gable roof, Liu Dapeng 劉大鵬 described it as a fang 坊 gateway (Liu 1986, 32-33). Also called a paifang 牌坊 (Liu 2016. 157), this is an architectural form which facilitates the installation of formal name-plaques (pai 牌).1
