Building Information
The palace gate is three bays wide with a central doorway framed by windows on either side. The roof ridge is faced with intricate brickwork representing corbelled bracketing. Circular “moon windows” (yuechuang 月窗) with exquisite and unique designs are located on both sides of the gate (Liu et al. vol. 6, 47). The interior of the gateway is a one-by-three-bay corridor enclosed by a screening panel door (pingmen 屏門) blocking direct view into the interior (Miller 2007, 190-1). 1
