    Type of barrel tile (筒瓦 tongwa) used to cap the end of a line of covering tiles at the eaves.

    瓦當的本意是瓦頭.現指 筒瓦 的一種,剖面如 "┍—",作為蓋瓦用於檐頭以遮擋檐部.如"勾頭".在清代文獻中,"瓦當"似通常專指等較早時期的瓦當.
